Helmed by Shashanka Ghosh, the film delves into the lives of four female friends, navigating challenges within their families and the complexities of love and relationships. Alongside Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, the movie features notable performances from Swara Bhasker, Shikha Talsania, Neena Gupta, and Sumeet Vyas in significant roles.

Today (June 1, 2023), the Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer Veere Di Wedding completed five years. Producer Rhea Kapoor marked the day by sharing a series of photos celebrating the success of the film back in 2018. “Happy Veere Day everybody! Call your girlfriends and tell them you love them! I love you @vdwthefilm you changed my life!” she captioned the post.

All about “Veere Di Wedding”

Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, the film revolves around four friends, all young women who face issues in their family, love and sexual relationships. Besides Kareena and Sonam, the film also has Swara Bhasker, Shikha Talsania, Neena Gupta and Sumeet Vyas in pivotal roles. Backed by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi, the film emerged to be the fifth highest-grossing Hindi film of the year and the highest for a film featuring female leads. Sonam, Shikha and Swara also re-shared Rhea’s post on their Instagram stories and celebrated the film.

Balaji motion pictures also celebrated the success

On the other hand, Ekta’s Balaji Motion Pictures also shared a video celebrating the friendship of four women in the film. “We smiled. We cried. We laughed. You embraced love, friendship and everything in between in a way that stayed in our hearts forever. Thank you Veeres for coming into our life! Celebrating 5 years of #VeereDiWedding.” Soon after, the fans chimed in the comment section requesting for a sequel.

Rhea also hinted about a sequel

In March this year, Rhea dropped a major hint at the sequel on her Instagram stories and wrote, “I never thought I was a sequel kinda girl but maybe I am,” followed by four dancing ladies emojis. However, she didn’t reveal the name and cast of the sequel but it was enough to sent fans into a tizzy. Earlier in August 2020, Kareena Kapoor Khan ‘s cryptic reply to Swara Bhasker’s comment on her post also created buzz about the sequel. When Swara commented, “Aag,” she replied, “Swarajiiii veere 2.”
