Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, best known for the movie Parineeta, died at a Mumbai hospital. He was 67. Taking to Twitter on Friday morning, Hansal Mehta shared a picture of Pradeep. He wrote, “Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.” Sharing Hansal’s tweet, actor Manoj Bajpayee wrote, “Ohh! That’s so shocking! Rest in peace Dada!!

Taking to Twitter, actor Ajay Devgn wrote, “The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences (flower bouquet). My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada.”
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared a statement on Twitter. It read, “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Pradeep has departed for his heavenly abode. Please join us at 4 pm for his funeral at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium to say goodbye to him.”
It also read, “Address. Santacruz Hindu Crematorium Dattatraya Road, Near, Shastri Nagar, Santacruz West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400054 Time: 4 pm.” Sharing it he wrote, “Lost another gem of a person. Pradeep Da was a truly creative person which reflected in his art as well his behaviour. You will live in our hearts with your art. Om Shanti.”
Neil Nitin Mukesh shared pictures with Pradeep on Twitter. He said, “DADA!!! Why??? I’ll miss you dada. Will always remember you as that child-hearted, full of life man who taught me so much. Your creation Lafangey Parindey will always remain close to my heart. My prayers with the family.”
Patralekhaa also posted several photos with Pradeep on Instagram from the sets of their film. She wrote, “Good bye Dada…You will be missed ..Thank you for all the precious memories..I have learnt so much from you. Love and respect always…”
Nimrat Kaur shared a picture of Pradeep and tweeted, “Had the great pleasure of being on his set a few times in my modeling days. His hearty laughter and relentless perfectionism will forever be etched in my heart. Deepest condolences to his loved ones. Rest on Dada…the heavens above are a happier place. #RIPPradeepSarkar.”

Pradeep made his directorial debut with Parineeta in 2005. He also directed Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007), Lafangey Parindey (2010), Mardaani (2014) and Helicopter Eela (2018). He also directed several web series such as Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala (2019), Arranged Marriage and Forbidden Love (2020) and Duranga (2022).
