The film follows the love story of Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia), whose family background and culture are poles apart. About the movie

The DesiMartini review read, “Karan Johar has curated a wholesome family entertainer which also aims to bring many underlying societal wrongs to the forefront under the garb of a love story. Be it Rani trying to empower the women of the Randhawa household who have been suppressed, tormented, and left devoid of their happiness and aspirations or Rocky trying to find acceptance with his unabashed self in the sophisticated and cultured lifestyle of the Chatterjees, the movie sheds light into many undercurrents. The writing by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy has dialogues ranging from cheesy pickup lines, sleazy PJs, and many references from Karan Johar’s previous movies which strike a chord.”
