All eyes are on superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s third offering for the year, Dunki which is all set to be released on December 21, 2023. The makers recently opened the movie’s advance bookings which have made fans flock to the box office counters to catch the earliest show of the same. The film has managed to sell around Rs 1.4 lakh tickets according to the latest development.

Dunki will lock horn with Prabhas’s “ Salaar”

In a recent news report by Sacnilk, the Rajkumar Hirani directorial sold around 1,44,186 tickets to 6394 shows on the opening day of the film. This confirms at least Rs 4.45 crore opening for Dunki in the Hindi belt. These estimates are just for the movie in the Hindi belt. The film will lock horns with the Prabhas starrer Salaar which will be released a day later on December 22, 2023.

Talking about Salaar’s Hindi belt, around 16000 tickets worth Rs 55 lakh have been sold. The pre-sales is said to be around Rs 3 crore. It will be interesting to witness whether Dunki manages to surpass Salaar’s opening collection. This will surely be a clash of the titans.

Film and trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted yesterday (December 17) night stating, “Despite not being a Mass Action movie, #SRK ‘s #Dunki has sold 100K tickets in advance already.” Shah Rukh who recently promoted Dunki in Dubai addressed the crowd saying, “I know that a lot of you people have left your homes and have made Dubai your second home. From India, Bangladesh, the rest of the subcontinent, so many of you are here from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Now you all are far from home, but you have acquired a new home. Still you have a deep love for your home and have this longing to go back. This whole film talks about home is where the heart is.”

The movie marks the first collaboration between SRK and Hirani. It revolves around a group of friends who wish to travel abroad but struggle to get a visa or a passport. The film also stars Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles.
