Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and other members of the original cast will return in the sequel to the smash hit horror comedy Stree, which was released in 2018.
The wait is finally over! The sequel to the much-adored 2018 horror-comedy film Stree has been announced. The movie’s original cast consisted of Rajkummar Rao , Shraddha Kapoor , Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Pankaj Tripathi announced the same in the form of a fun skit. The announcement was made at the Jio Cinemas event that was held last night (April 12).
The original movie was loved by audiences and critics
Talking about the same, many videos and pictures from the announcement skit have been going viral. It shows Rajkummar, Aparshakti, and Abhishek along with Pankaj Tripathi recreating the hilarious scene wherein they are warned of looking back when called by Stree. We see Shraddha Kapoor looking super gorgeous in her red saree as the ‘Stree’ in the fun skit. Through the same, the cast announce the sequel of the movie and reveal the release date to be on August 31, 2024. The interesting part of the same is that the first part was also released on the exact same date in 2018.
The original movie received a lot of love for its unique concept and a fine balance between the horror and the comedy aspect. The performances of the entire cast were also praised a lot by the masses. The movie was based in the small town of Chanderi wherein a paranormal figure called Stree kidnaps the local men only leaving their clothes behind if they look back on her calling them. The film ended on an interesting cliffhanger wherein there was a tint of mystery attached to Shraddha Kapoor’s character.
Roohi and Bhediya are a part of the same horror-comedy universe
The film proved to be a box office hit which also paved the way for producer Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe. The other films in this universe include Roohi and Bhediya whose sequel was also announced at the same event. Reportedly, another movie named Munjha starring Sharwari Wagh in the lead will be an addition to this horror-comedy universe.
