Production on Thalapathy 68 is anticipated to begin in the second half of 2023.
According to a new report, Vijay will be paid a whopping 150 crores for Thalapathy 68 , which would make him the highest-paid actor in Tamil cinema.
However, sources in the industry have said that this amount is an exaggeration and that the actor will be paid around 60-60 crores for the project instead.
The venture will be officially announced in June
There have been a few directors that have been associated with Thalapathy 68 like Atlee and Vamshi Paidipally, but now it looks like Venkat Prabhu will be helming the project. Vijay approved the project after listing to the script narrated by the director. The project will be produced by AGS Entertainment and will be officially announced in June.
Venkat Prabhu who made his directorial debut with Chennai 600028 in 2007, has had a lot of critical and commercial hits like Goa, Maanaadu, and Mankantha.
The director is currently enjoying the success of his political-thriller movie Custody which stars Naga Chaitanya, Krithi Shetty, and Arvind Swamy in the lead.
Vijay is gearing up for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film Leo
As for Vijay, he is currently working with Lokesh Kanagaraj on the upcoming Leo . The movie is the third installment in the LCU following 2019’s Kaithi which starred Karthi and 2022s Vikram which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.
Leo will see Vijay and Trisha reunite after a gap of 15 years, their last movie together was the 2008 action movie Kuruvi.

This movie will also mark their fifth collaboration after Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi, and Kuruvi, three of which have been massive box-office successes.
The visual effects for the movie will be handled by Moving Picture Company, which has worked on Oscar-nominated Hollywood movies like Blade Runner 2049 and 1917.
Making Leo the third Indian movie the studio has worked on after the Telugu blockbuster RRR and the Bollywood horror-comedy Bhediya.
The main cast of the movie includes Vijay, Trisha, Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Manobala, and Janany Kunaseelan.
Leo will hit theaters worldwide on 20 October 2023.
