Popular K-pop singer and former BigBang member G-Dragon was booked in an alleged drugs case on Wednesday. Quoting News1, Naver News reported that Seoul, South Korea’s Incheon Police Agency booked the singer without detention on charges of violating the law on drug management. Reportedly, his name popped up during actor Lee Sun Kyun‘s drug scandal.
Reacting to the news, YG Entertainment who has been handling the artist for years, briefly commented on the matter. As per Xports News, their official statement read, “It is difficult to respond officially as he is not currently an artist under our company.”
G-Dragon accused of drug use
According to a report of News 1, the cops after arresting Lee Sun Kyun conducted an investigation where G-Dragon was identified. The report quoted police saying, “As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot reveal specific details.”
Lee Sun Kyun drug case
Reportedly, the police is investigating eight people in the matter of Lee Sun Kyun case. Previously, Seon Gyun Lee was booked on the charges of marihuana and psychotropic drugs under the Narcotics Control Act. Following this, the police also arrested the manager of the Gangnam entertainment establishment, where Lee Sun Kyun was reportedly known to have frequently visited. Named as Mr B, the manager is accused of extorting 350 million wons from Lee Sun Kyun by allegedly threatening the Parasite actor. Besides these arrests, another employee of the entertainment establishment was booked alongside five other people, which reportedly includes a composer, an aspiring singer and a member of a third-generation chaebol family.
The news of G-Dragon’s alleged connection is no less than a shock for the fans. G-Dragon debuted in 2006 and gained recognition as the leader of BigBang. The group was one of the best-selling boy bands in the world which contributed immensely towards the never-ending Hallyu wave. G-Dragon is popularly known as the King of K-pop.
On the other hand, Lee Sun Kyun of Parasite-fame made news this week due to suspects of using unspecified illicit substances in Seoul. On Monday, he was booked for alleged illegal use of drugs.
